My mother, Denise DuBarry Hay, was a devoted philanthropist and the light of my life. She had the unique ability to inspire excellence & encourage kindness, leading by example. She never turned a blind eye and continually helped her family, friends, and strangers discover the best versions of themselves. She poured her energy into causes she loved, including children’s charities like Olive Crest, Martha’s Village & Kitchen, and the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission. She also championed film in the region, chairing Palm Springs Women in Film and Television and creating the Broken Glass Awards to honor women breaking barriers. Her creativity and drive were evident in everything she did—this is the work that Mind and Matter continues to do.
